No.  Although the fire station is staffed 24 hours a day by two firefighters/EMTs, the Department is not considered full-time.  Currently our firefighters are paid-per-call firefighters.  As the city continues to grow, in a few years from now a full-time Fire Department is a definite possibility.

What is the Fire Department's coverage area?

The Kaysville Fire Department protects the cities of Kaysville and Fruit Heights with a combined population of nearly 30,000 people.  Geographically the Kaysville Fire Department covers just over 12 square miles (Kaysville and Fruit Heights combined).

The Kaysville Fire Department offers a number of services including:

I would like brochures and information on fire safety, where can I receive that information?

Currently you can stop by the fire station and pick that information up during day time hours.  A lot of that information can be found on our "Fire and Safety Tips" section found on our "Community Education" page.

Do you provide CPR and First Aid classes?

Currently this information is taught in our school systems in eigth grade and tenth grade health classes by the Fire Department.  The Fire Department doesn't usually hold these classes though at the station, though they may be available on occasion, please just check back on our site and we will post this information if it does become available.

What happens if an ambulance isn't available in Kaysville?

If all three of the Fire Department's ambulances are out on calls, an ambulance from the Farmington or Layton Fire Department will respond to your medical emergency.

Why do I see an ambulance or fire engine at a restaurant or the grocery store?

Our Firefighters are allowed to go out to eat or to go to the grocery store to buy food to keep at the station.  Even though our Firefighters aren't directly at the station, the city's safety is still at 100%, as our Firefighters are prepared to respond at any moment, even if it is from a restaurant or grocery store.

What is Kaysville's ISO rating?

The Kaysville Fire Department has an Insurance Service Organization rating that is just barely over a 4 into a 5.  In the past we've had several ISO ratings of a 4 (1 being the highest, 10 being the lowest), which results in lower insurance costs for you!  Our rating is an outstanding rating for any department, let alone a volunteer fire department.

I need a permit or an inspection, who do I call?

The Kaysville Fire Department has a part-time Fire Marshal (who also serves as the city's Deputy Fire Chief) who is incharge of all inspections.  You can reach him, Jim Dotson, at (801) 544-2860.

Are ride alongs available with the Kaysville Fire Department?

The Kaysville Fire Department does allow ride alongs with our Firefighters.  You must be 18 years of age to do so.  Just know that around 75% of the Fire Department's calls are EMS related and the Fire Department usually only responds to 3 to 4 calls a day, so the chances of there being a fire while you are there is slim, though responding to an EMS call can be just as fun and rewarding!
