Saturday, June 20, 2009: Kaysville Fire crews were requested as mutual-aid to another Layton Structure Fire around 21:30 hours this evening. The home was in east Layton just off of Antelope Drive, not too far from last week's fire. Kaysville responded to the call with Engine 61. A few minutes later Ambulance 61 was requested to respond code Bravo to assist with a smoke inhalation patient, after the homeowner entered the structure to try and save his dog, who was lost in the fire.
Layton Fire crews responded to the scene with Ambulance 51, Ambulance 522, Ambulance 53, Medic Engine 51, Rescue Engine 52, Truck 53, Batallion Chief 51, Fire 501, and other various command units. The homeowner's were not home when the fire started. The home appeared to be a total loss with damage to the basement, entry way, and attic resulting in $200,000 in damage. It is still under investigation on how it started, but it appears to be mechanical. Pictures can be found in the Photo Gallery or by clicking here.
